Description
Out review is from 2023 when the sun did shine and weather was about 22C. Registration was in the Tarbet school, which was simple and had great facilities. At 12:30 the buses arrived and we were transported along the run route to the start line, which appeared to be in the middle of nowhere beside someones house.
Actually a really nice start line.
The race is quickly started and we were off to enjoy views of some of the best beaches worldwide. This race is undulating until the
8 Kms
mark and at that point you start and uphill of about 6 Kms
which appeared too much for lots of runners, with many choosing to walk parts. After
14 Kms
you think you are over all the climb but there are another few not so steep uphills to keep it interesting. Towards the end there is some steep downhill, so best to keep something in the legs for that. At Tarbet you have a run along the old pier old before hitting the finish line and a lovely welcome back.Nice medal and a lot of smiling faces, with lots of families there.
Get this one on your to do list.
Getting in
Getting in is easy and there is the possibility of getting in on the day if bus spaces are available.
Getting there
We took the ferry to Stornoway and drove down taking a few days holiday on the islands.
There is the option for a one day round trip by taking the ferry to and from Skye, which seems a popular choice in 2023
Start
Bused out to near Brove.
End
In the town of Tarbet
Finish
The finish is back in Tarbet and a really lovely reception. It is small but that kind of makes it more special. A Nice medal complete with a Harris tweed ribbon, water and some chocolate.
Staying
Lots of places to stay from camping to luxury. We would recommend having your own transport though.
